Another Superbird Save
"Here's the story behind this Superbird that we were able to save recently.
In late 1969 they got married and took a road trip for their honeymoon. On their way home wile driving back in to town they passed the Dodge dealership and the husband spotted the New 1970 Superbirds on the show room floor. One Red one Orange one Green and the last in Yellow.
The next day the husband loaded his new wife into his 1969 Charger and without telling his wife they where heading to the Dodge dealer to look at the Superbirds. She sat in the show room as he looked at the Superbirds. He left with a salesman and sometime later he returned. Before she could ask him anything she noticed the salesman driving her husbands Charger to the back of the building.
When she asked her husband what was going on, he explained he had traded in his Charger on the new Red Superbird. Her husband was a true man of speed as the bird is equipped with a 440 six-pack motor and a 4-speed transmission. She tells us she was not so in love with the car because he would punch the gas and that car would take off and fly. 'He scared the hell out of me with the way he drove that car,' she said. In later years she came to love the big old car and would refer to it as the 'old lady.'
Fast forward to 1981
The Bird was pulled into the garage and there it sat until we pulled it out of there in mid September 2009. At some point, the couple got a divorce and she went to live in a new house. Best we can put together, prior to his death in 2007 the car was pulled apart, Trans / motor / nose / front sheet metal / doors / trunk lid / front suspension / rear end. The motor was sent out and all the machine was done and trans went who knows where. We are also guessing he was going to make the bird into a street/strip car. He added nice things, Chrome Molly Roll Cage / Sub frame connectors and louvered the hood. The owner passed away before he could complete the car.
Now to 2009.
After a few phone calls Debi and I went to look at a Superbird that was in a garage. A few hours of chatting with the widow and Debi struck a deal to buy the Superbird. We also found out if it was not for us coming to look at the car she was going to leave it in the garage as the house was in foreclosure and she had no money to keep the car. Later that day the car came out of the garage for the first time in 28 years. And now the 'old lady' is back on the road. Debi and the woman are going to have a night on the town. Who knows what else the girls might get into."

"I cannot disclose the location of these cars, the owner didn't know I had a camera on me when he let me browse his yard with his close friend. There were over 300 Camaros and Chevelles and none of them are for sale. The pics I took are of Real SS cars or RS cars, the convertible is a RS/SS. In the line of camaros 2 of them are RS's and the rest are Camaros, all are 4-speeds!"

"This car appeared on the side of the road on my way to work this week. The plate shows to be from Florida 1969/1970. This car has definitely seen it's share of sun for sure."
