These pictures are of Gas Ronda's 1963-1/2 Galaxie 500
Sports roof factory drag car, R-code 427-8V 425 hp engine with a Top
loader 4-speed manual transmission. This car had fiberglass doors, hood and
deck lid, aluminum bumpers front and rear, shell-type racing buckets, no armrests and no seam sealer. |
I took these pictures in September of 1995 in Connecticut, where the car had recently been brought from California by Jim Barillaro (owner of the 427 SOHC-powered "Chrisman's Comet" funny car). He reportedly sold the car shortly after I saw it for $30,000 to a group of people who were going to restore it to its former glory. |
It is interesting to note that the door tag on this car listed the following information: VIN: 2W51G156040 BODY: 62B COLOR: M TRIM: 22A DATE: 03V DSO: blank AXLE: blank TRANS: 5 Apparently, some parts from Gas Ronda's 1962 Galaxie 2-door Club Sedan G-code 406-6V 405
hp/Top loader 4-speed manual transmission drag car were reused on the 63-1/2
Sports roof drag car, such as the driver's door with the 1962 door tag. Enjoy! Yours in old Ford iron, Adrian |
