The car in question is a 1967 Ford XL 2-door hardtop with the 7-Litre Sports Package, factory
R-code 427-8V 425 hp engine and Top loader 4-speed manual transmission, VIN 7G58R234947.
According to the production records of the Ford Motor Company, as analyzed by Marti Auto Works,
of the 18,174 XL 2-door hardtops produced during the 1967 model year, this car is 1 of only 8
produced with the 7-Litre Sports Package and the 427-8V/4-speed drive train.
The car is presently owned by a friend of mine, who is the son of the original owner.
He removed the transmission in 1990 to replace the clutch, and she is still sitting there to this day.
He says that he is going to restore her some day.  The kicker?  12,426.6 miles on the odometer.
This vehicle, assembled on Monday, July 17, 1967, is one of the last, if not the last, 427 solid lifter, dual quad cars built by the Ford Motor Company.  I make this statement with authority because the latest actual build date of any of the 731 cars presently registered in the 1967 Ford Full-Size Registry (which I founded on April 1, 1999, and still manage), is Friday, July 28, 1967, a mere 11 days after this car was produced. Thanks, and keep up the good work! Yours in old Ford iron, Adrian
