This rare 1969 Mercury Spoiler II Dan Gurney Special was driven from Knoxville, Tennessee to Nashville, Tennessee in 1986. It was parked in a back yard in Nashville until the neighbors complained. Inthe summer of 2000 it was towed to his fathers farm north of
Nashville. At some time someone painted white over the originally blue roof. The original 351W 4v engine is still under the hood.-Tracy Reynolds |
Here is a couple of Cougars that I rescued from further decay. The first is a 1968 Cougar GTE with the 427 side oiler
motor. The car sat next to the owners house since 1972 with 28,000 miles and in like new
condition, when the owner decided to rebuild the engine when his timing chain went. But was left to rot, it was worse than it
looks. Took me 2 years to convince the owner to part with it and a few months later to dig out the motor with 20 odd years of junk over
it. But hey what do you want for $100.00 [no
bull]. Production is under 400 cars. |
Second is a 1970 Cougar Eliminator with the 428 Cobra-jet motor that was left to rot and raped of parts for it's sister the Mustang. I rescued this car and returned it to the road. Production is under 400 cars -Morris Fioravanti |
This car was in the wrong hands for sure!!! He was going to take the 428cj engine and put it in his pickup!!! Car was located in Arizona.- Allen Sanderson |
